About the Poets:
Jessica Kim is a disabled writer and high school senior. She is the 2021-22 Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate and 2022 National Youth Poet Laureate runner-up, a 2022 Youngarts Finalist in Writing (Poetry), and a Commended Foyle Young Poet. Her poetry chapbook, L(EYE)GHT, was published by Animal Heart Press in April 2022 and her poems can be found in POETRY Magazine, The Adroit Journal, Frontier Poetry, and her website at jessicakimwrites.weebly.com. Besides poetry, she serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Lumiere Review and Polyphony Lit.
Jennifer “Miss B” Baptiste is a writer, school librarian and voice actor living in North Hollywood, California. She was born and raised in Texas and is a second generation American of Haitian descent. She loves creating lyrical introspective pieces that resonate with the heart and mind to promote healing, empowerment, and curiosity. You can explore her poetry writing through Drifter Zine, Poem-A-Week with Sims Poetry Library, and The Los Angeles Poets Society’s upcoming Reflesh Anthology. jimmy vega is the child of Mexican immigrants, a Chicanx Los Angeles born and raised poet, writer, educator, artist, and curator. He holds a B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from UCLA and an MFA from the School of Critical Studies, Creative Writing Program at CalArts, where they co-created the MFA in Creative Writing’s HYPERLINK reading series. He is the Assistant Director of Beyond Baroque Literary Arts/Center. He instant-grams @jimmyyvega
Iván Salinas is an undocumented poet born en Ciudad de México and has lived in the San Fernando Valley (Tongva-Tativiam territory) for most of his life. He received a BA in English, Creative Writing, from Cal State Northridge. He is Assistant Editor at Drifter Zine, a publication highlighting artists of the 818 and beyond. He's a recipient of the 2021 Individual Artist Fellowship of the California Arts Council. His poetry & prose has appeared in Backlash Lit, Curious Publishing, La Raíz Magazine, El Tecolote, and more. Iván is the Programs Coordinator at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center and lives in Panorama City with Madi and their dog Rocket.
